Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class - compact crossover with front or all-wheel drive. The second generation of the model (H247) was introduced in December 2019.
The new GLA is built on the same MFA platform with other front-wheel drive models of the brand, but if before the body proportions of the car more like a raised version of the A-class, the second iteration model looks more “off-road”. The novelty turned out to be 104 mm (1611 mm) higher than its predecessor and at the same time 14 mm (4410 mm) shorter. Width increased by 30 mm (up to 1834 mm). The wheelbase is the same as the A-class and CLA platform cars (2729 mm).
Changes in dimensions had a positive effect on the organization of space in the cabin and saved the car from some of the shortcomings of the first generation model. In particular, 22 mm was added above the heads of the driver and front passenger, and rear sofa passengers received additional space in front of the knees due to an increase of 116 mm between the rows. The trunk has also become a little more spacious - the volume is 435 liters instead of 421 liters for the previous GLA.
Automatic braking in the second generation GLA has become standard equipment. An extensive list of assistance systems includes active blind spot monitoring, emergency maneuvering assistant and so on. The electronics are supplemented with features such as a warning about the presence of people near a pedestrian crossing or about the approach of another vehicle from behind when trying to open the door. Energizing and Energizing Coach systems are ready to take control of various comfort functions, and there is also one-button car wash preparation. In this mode, the windows and sunroof are closed, the wipers are blocked, and air recirculation in the cabin is turned on.
Three petrol versions were presented first. For European markets, the Germans provided the Mercedes-Benz GLA 200 with a 1.3 turbo engine (163 hp, 250 Nm) and a seven-speed 7G-DCT “robot”. This one can boast of acceleration to 100 km / h in 8.7 s and a top speed of 210 km / h. America is addressed to the Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 with a two-liter turbo four (224 hp, 350 Nm) and an eight-speed 8G-DCT preselection - such cars can have front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. But the maximum speed is limited to the same 210 km / h. At the top of the line is the “charged” Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 with a boosted two-liter turbo engine (306 hp, 400 Nm), an eight-speed “robot” and all-wheel drive. It shoots up to “hundreds” in 5.1 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h.
Later, diesel versions of the GLA appeared with a two-liter turbo four: 180 d (116 hp, 280 Nm), 200 d and all-wheel drive 200 d 4MATIC (150 hp, 320 Nm), as well as 220 d and 220 d 4MATIC (190 hp, 400 Nm). All are offered with an 8-speed 8G-DCT transmission.
There is also a hybrid modification of the GLA 250 e. In such a petrol turbo four with a volume of 1.33 liters (160 hp, 230 Nm), a 75-kilowatt electric motor (102 hp, 330 Nm) built into the eight-speed “robot” 8F-DCT and powered by a battery at 15.6 kWh The total return - 218 hp, 450 N•m. "Electric mileage" varies between 53-69 km on the WLTP cycle.
All versions of the all-wheel drive crossover are equipped with the Off-Road Engineering Package by default.
