For the first time, Mercedes-Benz presented its new production and technology brand for electric vehicles - EQ - at the Paris Motor Show in 2016. And already in the middle of 2019, the first production car from the new line appeared on the roads - the EQC crossover. Its official entry into the Ukrainian market took place in November 2020.

The Mercedes EQC is built on the Modular Electric Architecture (MEA) platform developed by Daimler for the future electric line. The MEA architecture involves the installation of electric motors on one or both axles, and batteries in the floor of the electric car. The EQC version 400 4MATIC has two electric motors (on the front and rear axles) and all-wheel drive.

To increase efficiency and dynamics, the electric powertrains (eATS) have been configured differently: the front motor is tuned for low to medium loads for optimal economy, while the rear motor provides dynamics. Together they develop an output of 300 kW (408 hp) and their combined maximum torque reaches 765 Nm.

The lithium-ion battery provides the car with an energy reserve of 80 kWh. The power reserve on one charge is declared at the level of 450 km according to the NEDC cycle. The crossover charger is liquid-cooled and has a power of 7.4 kW. The time to charge the battery to 80% capacity from a high-speed charging station is about 40 minutes.

Mercedes EQC offers five driving modes for the driver to choose from: COMFORT (“Comfort”), ECO (“Eco”), MAX RANGE (“Maximum range”), SPORT (“Sport”) and individually adjustable mode. Top speed is electronically limited to 180 km/h. From standstill to "hundreds" Mercedes-Benz EQC 400 weighing 2425 kg (of which 650 kg - battery) accelerates in 5.1 s. The electric car is capable of towing a trailer weighing up to 1800 kg.

The interior is decorated in the style of modern models of the brand. So, two 10.25-inch displays are installed on the front panel, combined into one: the first is a virtual dashboard, the second is the screen of the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) multimedia complex with voice recognition. From the "relatives" of the EQC got the steering wheel and physical climate control buttons.

Serial production of the Mercedes-Benz EQC started in May 2019 at the Daimler plant in Bremen, Germany.
