Mercedes-Benz CL - the third generation of a four-seater coupe, which premiered at the Paris Motor Show in 2006. Buyers are offered a restyled version of the model, introduced in 2010. The car is built on the basis of the current generation of the sedan Mercedes-Benz S-Class. In March 2013, a new generation of the S-Class will debut at the Geneva Motor Show, followed by the next generation of the CL coupe.
As power plants for the coupe, V8 and V12 gasoline engines are now used. The range of engines opens with an eight-cylinder unit with a volume of 5.5 liters. Its power is 388 hp. The maximum torque is 530 Nm. The engine is installed on the CL 500 modification. The unit is paired with a seven-band automatic 7G Tronic.
The next engine is a 6.2-liter eight-cylinder engine, which is installed on the sports modification CL 63 AMG. The return of the unit is 525 hp, and the peak torque is 630 Nm. The transmission is a seven-speed "robot" AMG Speedshift MCT, shifting gears in less than 100 milliseconds. The CL 63 AMG Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds.
In addition to the eight-cylinder units, the Mercedes-Benz CL also has two V12 engines available for the CL 600 and CL 65 AMG. In the first case, a 5.5-liter engine (517 hp and 830 Nm) is installed under the hood, and in the second, a 6-liter engine (612 hp and 1,000 Nm). Paired with motors is a five-speed automatic, capable of withstanding the high torque of twelve-cylinder engines.
The Mercedes-Benz CL is a rear-wheel drive car, but the 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive system is available for the CL 500 modification, which maintains a rear-wheel drive accent, distributing torque between the front and rear axles in a ratio of 45:55 in the normal state.
