Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate - The presentation of the current generation of the station wagon (S205) took place in May 2014 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. The five-door version of the C-class complemented the eponymous sedan, and later two-door joined the family coupe And cabriolet. European sales of the model started in September of the same year, and the Ukrainian market C-Class Estate came out in March 2017.
New C-Class wagon 96mm longer (4702mm) and 40mm wider (1810mm) predecessor while the wheelbase of the car was increased by 80 mm (up to 2840 mm). Thanks to these changes, the engineers of the German brand have allocated an additional 45 mm of free legroom for second-row passengers. In addition, the riders have become more spacious in the shoulders and above their heads.
The trunk of the five-door C-class could boast a rather large volume of 485 liters before, and with the update of the model it received another 5 liters. With the backs of the second row raised, the luggage compartment holds 490 liters, and with the backs folded down - 1510 liters. Interestingly, the backs are now folded in a ratio of 40:20:40 instead of 60:40 in the previous generation. Thus, if necessary, the car can be five-, four-, three or two-seater. The backs of the rear “sofa” are folded with the help of electric drives activated by a button. The fifth door is also electrically operated and, as an option, can be equipped with touchless kick activation under the rear bumper.
Despite the increased dimensions, the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate has become lighter and its body has become more rigid. The share of aluminum in the body structure reached 49%, which made it possible to “save” 65 kg. In addition, car developers pay attention to reducing noise in the cabin and improving safety.
The basic equipment of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class station wagon includes LED taillights, an instrument cluster with a 13.97 cm multifunction display, cruise control, climate control, and a multimedia system with a color display. The car is also presented in three performance lines: Exclusive, Avantgarde and AMG Line, which differ in combinations of decorative elements outside and inside, as well as interior trim materials. Optional air suspension and Dynamic Select driving mode switch, modern driver assistance systems (blind spot monitoring, lane keeping, active parking assistant, adaptive high beam switching, etc.), projection display, Burmester audio system with 13 speakers, panoramic roof with a sliding sunroof, keyless entry and engine start and other equipment.
The model is presented in both rear and all-wheel drive versions, with petrol and diesel turbo engines, as well as in hybrid modifications. Transmissions - six-speed "mechanics" or 9-speed "automatic". In addition, the “charged” versions of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 and C 63 S are equipped with a 7-speed “robot” with dual clutch, and the hybrid Mercedes-Benz C 350 e and C 300 r are equipped with a 7-speed “automatic”.
