With a length of 4359 mm, the car has one of the most capacious trunks in its class. In its normal state, its volume is 488 liters, and with the rear seats folded down, the cargo compartment can be increased to 1,547 liters.
Thanks to the options, the five-seater saloon can be equipped with additional luggage boxes, sections for small luggage, folding tables on the backs of the front seats. For the car, leather upholstery of the seats, central and door panels, power seats, Harman Kardon premium acoustics with 12 speakers and a 9-channel amplifier, a multimedia system with a 17.8 cm TFT display, a 6-disc DVD changer, navigation, voice control system, slot for SD memory cards, AUX and USB connectors.
In addition, for the Mercedes-Benz B-Class, systems for monitoring “blind” zones, automatic parking, collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, a rear-view camera, and an anti-recoil system are provided.
The range of gasoline engines includes two modifications of the new 1.6-liter engine with direct injection, gas distribution system and turbocharging. The power of the unit, depending on the version, is 122 or 156 hp. A 2-liter engine with 211 hp is also offered. The most powerful engine is aggregated by a seven-speed “robot” 7G-DCT with dual clutch, and a six-speed “mechanics” works in tandem with weaker engines.
The range of diesel engines consists of two modifications of the 1.8-liter unit, the power of which, depending on the version, is 109 or 136 hp. In addition to them, a 2.1-liter engine with 170 hp is available. As in the case of gasoline engines, the most powerful diesel engine is paired with a seven-speed "robot", and with weaker ones - a six-speed manual gearbox.
The main competitors of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class include Volkswagen Golf Plus And Touran. In the near future, BMW also intends to introduce its rival, which showed at the Paris Motor Show in 2012 a pre-production sample of a front-wheel drive monocab, called Active Tourer.
Now the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class is offered on the market, the public premiere of which took place at the end of 2011 at the international auto show in Frankfurt. Serial production of the model has been established at the company's enterprises in Germany and Hungary.
